
       

Which class is for me?
- Parent & Me - if you can walk you can dance; must be accompanied by an adult; have fun together learning basic dance movements.
- Tiny Tots -
ages 3-5; coordination, right and left, and following directions are taught in a fun way; focus on large and small muscle development and Kindergarten readiness skills; basic ballet concepts are introduced. (Tiny tots B is preparing for Ballet IA)
- Ballet I - ages 4-6; learns basic ballet steps; Vaganova feet and arm positions; ballet terminology; coordination. (Ballet IA - beginning level; Ballet IB - more advanced, preparing to move to Ballet IIA)
- Ballet II - ages 7-10; begins to learn body positions, reinforces proper body placement; more terminology is given; basic combining of steps. (Ballet IIA - beginning level; Ballet IIB - preparing to move to Ballet III)
- Ballet III - ages 11-13; should have body positions and terminology memorized; more complex combinations are learned. (Ballet IIIA - focuses on putting all knowledge together; Ballet III more advanced)
- Ballet IV - ages 14 and up; should know all the basics; class works on strengthening and polishing.
- Youth Ensemble - by audition only. For the serious student only; number of required classes based on skill level, has its own performances several times during the year, participates in all USA Ballet Company performances.
- Pre-Professional - level of transition from "student" to "dancer", final polishing level; full and partial scholarships available.
- Adult Ballet - a great way to exercise and tone your body; no previous dance required, but a desire to have fun and get in shape.
- Men's Ballet - ages 10 and up: focuses on male technique with emphasis on strength for jumps and partnering; should be taken in addition to a regular technique class.
- Pointe - by Director's approval only; must take Prep Pointe I and II, must be in Level III or IV ballet technique class.
- Pas de Deux (partnering) - must be in Ballet III or IV, learns basic partnering techniques, including promenades, turns, and lifts.
- Open Company Class - must be at a minimum of Level III or Youth Ensemble; attending is encouraged to learn from being around professional dancers.
- Jazz A - ages 7 - 10; Jazz B - ages 11 - 13; Jazz C - advanced; any color of leotard and tights; jazz pants optional; black or tan jazz shoes; hair out of face.
These are the basic guidelines. Please feel free to inform us if your child had had more experience and might belong in a different class than the listed ages suggest. We also will move a student mid term in order to allow for the most benefit to the student.
